STAN HUMPHRIES, Ph.D  Electromagnetic Field Modeling

Stanley Humphries spent the first part of his career as an experimentalist in the fields of plasma physics, controlled fusion and charged particle acceleration. A notable contribution was the creation and demonstration of methods to generate and to transport intense pulsed ion beams. His current work centers on simulations of electromagnetic fields, biomedical processes and material response at high pressure and temperature. Dr. Humphries is the author of over 130 journal publications and the textbooks Principles of Charged-particle Acceleration (John Wiley, New York, 1986), Charged Particle Beams (John Wiley, New York, 1990) and Field Solutions on Computers (CRC Press, Boca Raton, 1997). The Chinese translation of Charged Particle Beams has just been released by Atomic Energy Press (Beijing).

He received a B.S. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a member of the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Dr. Humphries is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico and President of Field Precision, an engineering software company.
